Overview
The situation
Litigation teams at Lounsbery Law Office were spending the majority of their preparation time on tasks a computer should be doing — reading through hundreds of pages of discovery documents, manually cross-referencing witness statements, extracting key facts from filings, and drafting routine trial documents from scratch. The actual legal strategy — the part only an attorney can do — was getting compressed into whatever time was left. We built a Legal Intelligence System that inverted that equation: AI handles the intake, organisation, extraction, and initial drafting, so attorneys can arrive at strategy with everything already prepared.
Challenge
What we had to solve
Legal AI has a trust problem that most implementations ignore: if the system produces a hallucinated fact in a trial document, the consequences aren't a bad user experience — they're professional liability. The system had to be not just accurate, but verifiably accurate. Every extracted fact, every generated question, every summary had to be traceable back to its source document with a specific citation. Beyond accuracy, the output had to be genuinely useful in a courtroom context — not just summaries, but editable Word documents structured the way attorneys actually think: case overviews, discovery digests, direct and cross-examination questions, witness profiles, and closing argument drafts.
What it does
Core capabilities
Smart Document Intake & Classification
The system securely processes hundreds of pages of legal PDFs and mixed case materials, automatically categorising content into witnesses, events, evidence, allegations, and timelines on upload. Attorneys receive a structured high-level case overview immediately — with deep navigation through linked source files available for thorough review. What previously required a paralegal to spend days organising a discovery package now happens in minutes, giving the entire team a shared, structured understanding of the case from day one.
Fact Extraction & Cross-Document Corroboration
The extraction engine analyses filings, discovery packets, communications, and evidentiary materials simultaneously — surfacing key facts, flagging hearsay indicators, and cross-linking mentions of the same person or event across multiple documents. Contradictions between witness accounts are automatically highlighted, and every extracted fact is linked to its source document, page, and paragraph. Attorneys can navigate directly to the supporting passage with a single click, turning weeks of manual cross-referencing into a structured, navigable evidence map.
Trial-Ready Document Generation
From uploaded case files, the system generates structured, editable Word documents that attorneys can take directly into trial preparation: Case Overviews, Discovery Digests, Direct and Cross-Examination Questions, Witness Summaries, and Closing Argument drafts. Every generated document is grounded in evidence — each examination question cites the deposition or filing it draws from, and every claim in the closing draft links to its evidentiary basis. Attorneys receive a fully drafted, citation-backed starting point to refine rather than a blank page to fill.
Witness & Narrative Management
The platform consolidates every statement, evidence reference, timeline entry, and contextual relationship into a unified per-witness view — showing each witness's role, relevance, supporting materials, and contradictions with other accounts in a single interface. Teams can identify the strongest lines of questioning, spot gaps in witness coverage, and craft more strategic narratives before setting foot in a courtroom. Combined with CCPA-ready access controls and user-level permissioning, the entire case library remains confidential, structured, and audit-ready.
