The situation

As a global leader in power transmission and motion control products, the client operated at a scale where order management was both mission-critical and perpetually understaffed. Sales and support teams were spending the majority of their time answering the same order status questions, manually checking inventory levels, looking up pricing, and placing orders into the ERP by hand. Every manual step was a bottleneck, every manual entry was a potential error, and the volume was only growing. We built an ERP AI agent that took the entire order management workflow off the team's hands — connecting directly to the ERP system and handling order placement, tracking, inventory queries, and customer communications with 95% accuracy at a scale no human team could match.

ERP integration is technically unforgiving — the agent had to interact with live production data in real time, which meant a misread inventory figure or an incorrectly placed order had immediate operational consequences. The system needed to understand natural language queries from both internal sales teams and external customers, translate them into precise ERP operations, and return accurate, contextually appropriate responses without hallucination or misinterpretation. At the same time, the agent had to handle the full diversity of order-related questions — from simple status checks to complex multi-line order histories — without routing every edge case to a human for resolution.
